Dr. Danlin Yu is a Professor in Earth and Environmental Studies at Montclair State University's College of Science and Mathematics. He holds a PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, with prior degrees from Changsha Electric Power University and Lanzhou University. His expertise spans geographic information science, spatial data analysis, urban simulation, and system dynamics modeling for complex environmental and urban systems. Dr. Yu has authored over 90 peer-reviewed articles and three collaborative books on urban development in China. He co-developed the R package 'spgwr' for geographically weighted regression analysis and currently serves as associate editor for ASCE's Journal of Urban Planning and Development, and academic editor for PeerJ.
His research focuses on applying statistical methods to urban planning, environmental management, and public health challenges. Recent work includes assessing lead exposure risks in Nigeria and New Jersey, developing fusion models for regional economic assessment using nighttime lights and OpenStreetMap data, and advancing smart city frameworks through system dynamics modeling. Dr. Yu's contributions address UN Sustainable Development Goals related to sustainable cities, responsible consumption, and climate action.
Editorial roles include leadership positions at key journals, reflecting his influence in spatial analysis and urban studies. His methodological innovations in geocomputation and spatial econometrics have positioned him as a leader in integrating big data with traditional geographic analysis techniques.
