Dr. Danilo León serves as Associate Professor and Program Coordinator for the Spanish Language & Cultures online B.A. Program at Columbia College's School of Arts & Sciences, where he shapes curriculum development and academic strategy for language education.
His academic foundation includes a Ph.D. in Spanish Literature, Language & Culture and Master of Arts in Language Teaching from the University of Missouri-Columbia, complemented by specialized training in Leadership (University of Denver), Translation (University of Toronto), Higher Education Teaching (Harvard University), and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (Cornell University).
Dr. León's scholarly work centers on Spanish and Latin American literary traditions, contemporary film analysis, and intersectional cultural studies, with particular emphasis on gender dynamics and Chicanx perspectives. His pedagogical expertise spans all levels of Spanish language instruction including heritage speaker programs, professional Spanish applications, and advanced composition.
His research has appeared in respected journals including Polifonía, The Rocky Mountain Review, and ALCESXXI: Journal of Contemporary Spanish Literature and Film, reflecting sustained engagement with Iberian and Latin American cultural production.
