Danielle van Westen is an Associate Professor at Lund University, affiliated with the Department of Diagnostic Radiology. She is a Senior Consultant in Neuroradiology and serves as a Principal Investigator for the MultiPark initiative focused on Parkinson's Disease. Additionally, she is a member of the LU Profile Area: Proactive Ageing.
Her research centers on neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer's Disease and dementia, with a focus on medial temporal lobe atrophy, tau pathology, and white matter hyperintensities. She employs MRI and diffusion tensor imaging to investigate cognitive disorders, brain connectivity, and neuroimaging biomarkers.
Recent work highlights her expertise in Alzheimer's subtypes, atrophy progression models, and functional connectivity changes in dementia. She collaborates extensively with international teams on clinical neurology, medical imaging, and data-driven diagnostics.
