Danielle Vriend Fluit is a faculty member at Trinity Western University (TWU), teaching in the School of Graduate Studies' Marriage & Family Therapy (MCS) program since Fall 2020. She holds a PhD in Psychotherapy & Spirituality from the University of Ottawa and is a Registered Psychotherapist (RP), Registered Marriage & Family Therapist (RMFT), and CACFT Approved Supervisor. Her clinical practice spans 17 years, specializing in systemic approaches integrating Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic therapy, and trauma-informed care.
Education highlights include a Master of Arts in Marriage & Family Therapy (TWU/ACTS Seminaries), a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (York University), and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology & English (Dordt University). Professional training includes EMDR Therapy (Level 1), EFT Externship, and EFFT Training.
Her research focuses on therapeutic hope, attachment theory, and the interplay between faith/spirituality and psychotherapy. Recent work explores embodied approaches to therapy and systemic interventions in couple dynamics. She has presented workshops internationally, including sessions on 'Hope in Therapy as a Relational Gift' (2024) and 'Bonds for Life: Attachment in Theory and Practice' (2019).
Teaching responsibilities include courses on counseling theories, research methodologies, ethics, trauma-informed therapy, and family systems. She actively engages in clinical supervision and maintains a small private practice.
