Dr. Danielle Chiaramonte is an Associate Research Scientist in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Yale School of Public Health and a key member of the Yale LGBTQ Mental Health Initiative. Her community-engaged research program focuses on promoting health equity for sexual and gender minorities through organization and system-level interventions, with particular expertise in LGBTQ mental health, sexual health, and gender-based violence prevention. She holds a PhD in Ecological-Community Psychology from Michigan State University (2020) and completed a T32 Postdoctoral Fellowship at Yale University (2022).
Her research utilizes implementation science frameworks to develop sustainable LGBTQ-affirmative mental health interventions in community settings. Core research domains include:
- Minority stress mechanisms and resilience factors
- Structural interventions for health equity
- Community-based participatory methods
- Ecological systems approaches to violence prevention
- Digital mental health innovations
Publication analysis reveals strong emphasis on intervention development and evaluation, particularly randomized controlled trials of cognitive-behavioral therapies adapted for LGBTQ populations. Her work consistently addresses structural barriers to care and integrates implementation science principles to bridge research-practice gaps in marginalized communities.
Honors include:
- LGBTQIA Adolescent Young Adult Health Research Grant Award (2019)
- Graduate Student Research Enhancement Award (2019)
- Multiple Graduate School International Travel Awards
As part of the Yale LGBTQ Mental Health Initiative, she collaborates on interdisciplinary research teams developing evidence-based interventions for LGBTQ populations globally. The initiative focuses on translating research into practice through academic-community partnerships and training future leaders in LGBTQ mental health research.
