Dr. Danielle Brady is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Edith Cowan University's School of Arts and Humanities, specializing in environmental humanities, communication technology, and cultural values of the environment. She holds a PhD from The University of Queensland (1992) and a Master of Arts in Science and Technology Studies from Deakin University (2000). Her research focuses on community-led environmental management, disaster communication, and the cultural significance of wetlands. She has been recognized with the ECU Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching (2007) and an Australian Learning and Teaching Council Citation Award (2007).
Brady’s work spans academic publications, exhibitions, and collaborative projects such as the 'Reimagining Perth's Lost Wetlands' initiative and the FireWatch satellite communication redesign. She has supervised over a dozen research students, including studies on diasporic cultural engagement with nature and media representations of China. Her professional affiliations include the Australia and New Zealand Environmental History Network and the Association for the Study of Literature, Environment & Culture.
Key research projects include a $215,982 ARC Linkage Grant for enhancing bushfire communication tools and a $35,947 ECU grant for wetland cultural studies. Her articles address topics like alcohol industry discourse, children’s online safety, and the Roe Highway protest’s spatial dynamics. Brady also serves as an Assessor for the Australian Research Council.
