Daniele M Genadry serves as Assistant Professor of Studio Art at the American University of Beirut, where her practice interrogates contemporary visual perception—particularly within postwar Lebanon—through painting, photography, and print media. Her work investigates how images generate autonomous temporality and mediate consciousness via material surfaces.
Her academic credentials include:
- MFA from the Slade School of Art, UCL, London
- BA from Dartmouth College
Genadry’s research centers on landscape-based works that physically engage viewers’ vision, demanding focused attention to perceive layered meanings. She explores fragility and disappearance through the tension between representational failure and material presence, transforming blurred or disintegrated imagery into heightened sensory experiences that challenge conventional viewing.
Her scholarly recognition encompasses:
- Abbey Scholar at the British School at Rome (2013-14)
- Fellow at the Bogliasco Foundation (2019)
- Fellow at the Camargo Foundation (2021)
