Daniele Durante is a Research Fellow at the Department of Comparative Linguistic and Cultural Studies, Ca' Foscari University of Venice. His work focuses on gender and sexuality history in pre-modern and modern Japanese culture, with particular emphasis on cross-dressing narratives and LGBTQ+ representation in literature and media.
- PhD in Oriental Languages and Civilizations (Sapienza University of Rome, 2022)
- Master's and Bachelor's Degrees in Asian and African Languages and Civilizations (Sapienza University of Rome, 110 cum laude in both)
Research interests include:
- Gender dynamics in Japanese court literature
- Warrior ethos and same-sex relationships in historical tales
- Representation of otaku and hikikomori in contemporary video games
- Literary analysis of Yukio Mishima's works
- Cross-cultural translation studies
His recent publications (2020-2022) demonstrate interdisciplinary approaches combining literary analysis, cultural studies, and queer theory.
