Daniele Cal

Daniele Cal is a 2023 cohort Researcher in the Department of History at the European University Institute (EUI). His doctoral research, titled Composing nations: battling melodies in revolutionary Europe, explores intersections of cultural production and political identity. Supervised by Professor Carlotta Sorba and co-supervised by Professor Mónica Bolufer Peruga, his work engages with themes of nationalism, music history, and European revolutionary movements.

Daniele contributes to sound studies and cultural history through his recent publication Sound studies and history: a possible meeting point? (2024). His research aligns with the EUI's focus on interdisciplinary approaches to European history, particularly examining how music shaped national narratives during transformative periods.
