معرفی
Daniele BRIDA is a Full Professor in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics and Head of the Department of Physics and Materials Science (DPhyMS) at the University of Luxembourg's Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM). His research group, Ultrafast Phenomena in Condensed Matter, focuses on developing ultrafast optical techniques to study quantum electronic processes in 2D materials and nanostructures. Professor Brida has authored over 70 publications, including in Nature, Science, and Physical Review Letters, with an h-index of 32 and 3000+ citations. He received the European Physical Society's Fresnel Prize for pioneering ultrafast laser-based studies of condensed matter systems.
His research integrates nonlinear optics, ultrafast spectroscopy, and nanotechnology to probe carrier dynamics, exciton interactions, and plasmonic effects in materials like graphene, transition metal dichalcogenides, and doped semiconductors. Key topics include:
- Ultrafast carrier recombination in semiconductors
- Optical nonlinearities in plasmonic nanoantennas
- Mid-infrared and terahertz spectroscopy
Recent work explores real-time monitoring of molecular polaritons, thermionic charge injection at metal-semiconductor interfaces, and supercontinuum generation in water. His lab develops advanced laser systems for field-resolved measurements and phase-sensitive spectroscopy.
Scientific awards include the Fresnel Prize (2021) for innovations in ultrafast laser techniques and their application to condensed matter physics. He has held invited roles at international conferences and collaborates globally on projects like the MUSIQ roadmap for multiphoton microscopy and ultrafast spectroscopy.
Research funding supports his work on quantum materials, plasmonic systems, and ultrafast instrumentation. His group's facilities include state-of-the-art laser setups and nanofabrication tools for creating novel optical components and studying material dynamics at femtosecond timescales.
