Daniela Malta is an Assistant Professor at the School of Nutrition, Toronto Metropolitan University and a registered dietitian with the College of Dietitians of Ontario. She holds a PhD in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on dietary strategies for cardiovascular diseases, specifically hypertension and heart failure, with emphasis on sodium and potassium intake. She collaborates with the Canadian Institute for Health Research and Heart & Stroke Foundation through 'The Science of Salt' initiative, producing systematic reviews on salt's impact on health.
Teaching responsibilities include advanced nutrition management courses (FNN 301, FNN 401) and senior research projects (FNR 310). Her research also explores dietary assessment methods and kidney disease risk reduction. Malta contributes to high-impact journals like the Journal of Clinical Hypertension and American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
