Daniela Jacob

Daniela Jacob serves as Director of the Climate Service Center Germany (GERICS), an institution of Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon, since 2015 and holds an honorary professorship at Leuphana University of Lüneburg. She chairs the Climate Council of Hamburg and the German Committee for Sustainability Research in Future Earth (DKN), while co-chairing WPN2030 and serving on the Earth League.

Education:

Research Focus: Her work centers on regional climate modelling and climate services, with deep expertise in adaptation to climate change and climate-resilient development. She pioneers scientific support for societal transformation toward 1.5°C lifestyles through transdisciplinary approaches bridging climate science with practical policy applications.

As former editor-in-chief of Climate Services journal until 2024, she co-founded this key publication venue while leading GERICS' research ecosystem. Her leadership extends to directing the REMO-Group for Regional Climate Modelling and overseeing transdisciplinary projects including Third Party Funded Projects and Climate Service Infrastructure development.
