Daniela Hofmann is a Professor of Archaeology at the University of Bergen, affiliated with the Department of Archaeology, History, Cultural Studies and Religion. Her research focuses on Neolithic studies, migration patterns, isotopic analysis, and archaeological theory. She has contributed to over 15 publications since 2020, including monographs and peer-reviewed articles on topics such as prehistoric burial practices, mobility studies, and cultural interaction in Europe.
Her work integrates multidisciplinary approaches, combining archaeological fieldwork with isotopic analysis and ancient DNA studies to explore themes like Neolithisation processes, social dynamics, and human-environment interactions. Hofmann has collaborated with institutions such as the University of Copenhagen, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, and the Archaeological Museum of Alicante.
Key projects include the edited volume Negotiating Migrations (2024), which examines migration narratives through archaeological and historical lenses, and the monograph Magical, mundane or marginal? (2020), analyzing Neolithic deposition practices. She also contributes to public engagement through popular science chapters and conference presentations.
