Dr. Daniela Domínguez is an Associate Professor in the Counseling Psychology Department at the University of San Francisco (USF), serving as Program Coordinator for the Marriage and Family Therapy program at the Santa Rosa Location. A licensed psychologist and professional clinical counselor, her work focuses on liberation psychology, anti-racism, migrant justice, and queer mental health. She holds a PsyD in Counseling Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University (2015), an MS in Counseling Psychology (2010), and a BA in Psychology (2007) from St. Mary’s University.
Her research emphasizes the psychological impacts of immigration detention, LGBTQ+ family dynamics, and systemic oppression. Notable contributions include exploring abolition feminism’s role in supporting Latinx migrant womxn, analyzing asylum seekers’ experiences with border violence, and advocating for culturally responsive mental health practices. Dr. Domínguez has received multiple recognitions including the USF Outstanding Professor Award (2022) and the National Latinx Psychological Association’s Vega Distinguished Service Award (2021).
Professionally, she has served as Research Director at the Hanna Institute, owner of On the Margins LLC, and university counselor at Texas State University. Her community engagement includes roles on USF’s Mission Council and the Undocumented Student Scholarship Committee. Publications span academic journals and books addressing topics such as disaster mental health, binational family resilience, and decolonizing psychology.
