Deborah Healy

Deborah Healy is a Professor of Psychology and Chair of the Psychology Department at Our Lady of the Lake University. She holds a PsyD in Counseling Psychology from OLLU, an MS in Reading Remediation from SUNY Albany, and a BA in English Education (Summa Cum Laude) from Utica College. Her expertise focuses on strengths-based approaches to psychotherapy, brief therapy models, and youth mental health, alongside certifications as a Licensed Psychologist and School Counselor.

Dr. Healy emphasizes culturally inclusive education, fostering safe spaces for idea exchange, and preparing students to serve diverse communities ethically. Awards include the 2021 Sister Jane Ann Slater Leadership Award and 2022 Bexar County Psychological Association Fellow of the Year.

Her certifications span Licensed Professional Counselor, TEA Certified School Counselor, Reading Specialist, and K-12 English Teacher. Outside academia, she enjoys artistic activities, travel, and spending time with loved ones.
