Daniel Wiesen is an Associate Professor (W2) in Health Management at the University of Cologne, affiliated with the Department of Business Administration and Health Care Management. He also holds a part-time position at the Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management, Erasmus University Rotterdam. His research focuses on incentives, participant interactions in healthcare markets, and the influence of monetary/non-monetary incentives on health behaviors and physician decision-making. He has published in journals such as Management Science, Journal of Health Economics, and Social Science and Medicine.

His recent work examines bone marrow donation behavior, antibiotic prescribing, and structured lactation support in neonatal care. Earlier studies explore prudence measurement, mixed payment systems, and market dynamics in healthcare.
He has served as an advisor at Simon-Kucher & Partners (2011–2013) and held internships at the European Commission and German Federal Ministry of Health.
Current roles include leading interdisciplinary research groups and contributing to health policy frameworks in Germany and international collaborations.
