Dr. Daniel Thomas is a Senior Lecturer in Computer and Information Sciences at the University of Strathclyde, where he serves as Director of the Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Research. His research focuses on the ethical measurement of security and cybercrime, aiming to improve regulatory frameworks and economic incentives. He holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge (2015) and an MA in Computer Science from the same institution (2011).
Research Interests: Security metrics, cybercrime economics, infrastructure security, and ethical research practices. He collaborates across disciplines to address systemic issues in cybersecurity and policy.
Key Projects: Principal Investigator for 'Influence policing' (2022–2025) and co-investigator on 'Robustness-as-Traceability: Secure and Legal Calibration Workflows in IoT' (2022–2023). His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to education and security.
