Daniel Summerer serves as Professor of Chemical Biology at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, Technical University of Dortmund. His laboratory is located in room CP-02-143 at Otto-Hahn-Str. 4a, 44227 Dortmund, Germany.
Professor Summerer's research focuses on innovative chemical biology approaches for DNA and protein manipulation. His work bridges biochemistry and molecular biology with particular emphasis on epigenetic modifications and engineered biological tools. Key research areas include:
- Development of methods for detecting and analyzing DNA methylation patterns
- Engineering of transcription activator-like effectors (TALEs) for epigenetic decoding
- Creation of genetically encoded spin labels for structural studies
- Design of intercalating amino acids for DNA interaction
- Development of orthogonal translation systems for unnatural amino acid incorporation
His research program has yielded numerous patentable technologies with applications in molecular diagnostics and synthetic biology. Professor Summerer maintains active collaborations across multiple institutions as evidenced by his patent filings with University of Konstanz, Scripps Research Institute, and industry partners.
His laboratory maintains standard academic contact channels including phone (+49 231 755 8847) and fax (+49 231 755 5159) services for professional communication.
