معرفی
Daniel Stark is a Professor in the Astronomy Department at the University of California, Berkeley. He previously spent 12 years as a professor at the University of Arizona after completing his PhD at Caltech in 2008 and postdoctoral work at the University of Cambridge as an STFC Fellow. His research focuses on observational studies of the early universe using advanced telescopes including JWST, Keck, and ALMA.
Education:
- PhD, California Institute of Technology (2008)
- Undergraduate, University of Wisconsin
Research Focus: Professor Stark investigates the formation of the first galaxies, stars, and black holes in the early universe. His work spans three primary areas: 1) Characterization of high-redshift galaxies through spectroscopy, 2) Reionization processes of intergalactic hydrogen, and 3) Metal-poor massive star populations in primitive galaxies. Current projects include JWST Cycle 4 programs targeting distant galaxies with ultra-deep spectroscopy.
Awards & Fellowships:
- Hubble Fellowship (2011-2013)
- STFC Postdoctoral Fellowship (2008-2011)
Research Group: Leads a team including 4 current PhD students (Roychowdhury, Owens, Whitler, Chen) and 6 former members. The group conducts observational studies of early galaxy formation and reionization using multi-wavelength data.
