Daniel Soto

Daniel Soto is an Assistant Professor at the University of Southern California, affiliated with the Keck School of Medicine in the Department of Population and Public Health Sciences. He directs the Center for Population Health and has over two decades of experience in health behavior research, alongside seven years in curriculum design and teaching for public health programs.

• Research Focus: Acculturation, cultural stress, substance use prevention (e-cigarettes, cannabis), mental health, health disparities, tobacco control, diabetes, and infectious disease prevention.
• Community Engagement: Led initiatives like the COPAL Study for Hispanic immigrant research and the Trojan Pandemic Response Initiative for LA K-12 schools’ COVID-19 prevention.
• Publications: Over 100 manuscripts on topics like acculturation stress, social media’s role in substance use, and family dynamics in immigrant populations.
