University of Illinois Urbana-Champaignمعرفی
Professor Daniel Shoemaker is a faculty member in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research focuses on synthesizing novel inorganic materials and engineering their responses to electronic, magnetic, and chemical stimuli. He is affiliated with multiple quantum science and materials research centers, including the Superconducting Quantum Materials and Systems Center (SQMS), Quantum Sensing and Quantum Materials (QSQM), and Q-Next.
- BS with Honors in Materials Science and Engineering from University of Illinois (2006)
- PhD in Materials from University of California, Santa Barbara (2010)
Research Interests:
- Real-time in situ synthesis of non-equilibrium materials for energy applications
- Multi-scale characterization of micro- and nano-structured magnetism
- Neutron/X-ray scattering studies of correlated materials' structural dynamics
Scientific Awards:
- Louis Rosen Thesis Prize (2011)
- Materials Research Society Gold Award (2010)
Shoemaker's work leverages advanced characterization techniques at facilities like Argonne National Laboratory's Advanced Photon Source and Los Alamos National Laboratory's Lujan Neutron Scattering Center. He develops computational tools for analyzing complex synthesis data and investigates quantum memory candidate materials through collaborative projects.
