Daniel Shephard is a Lecturer in Comparative Education and Education Policy at the University of Edinburgh's Moray House School of Education and Sport, within the Institute for Education, Community and Society. His work focuses on educational inclusion of forced migrants, international education data regimes, and the sociological dimensions of education in conflict zones. He holds a PhD from Columbia University (2023), an MPhil from Columbia (2021), and an MSc from the University of Oxford (2011).
Research interests include refugee education models, data-driven policy analysis, and the intersection of education with conflict and migration. He employs mixed-methods approaches, including dynamic social network analysis and longitudinal studies. Prior roles include Postdoctoral Fellow at Indiana University, Adjunct Assistant Professor at the School for International Training, and Senior Manager at Aflatoun International. His consultancy work spans 30 countries with organizations like the OECD and World Bank.
