Professor Daniel Sheehy is a Professor of Physics at the Department of Physics & Astronomy, Louisiana State University (LSU), within the College of Science. He earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 2001. His research focuses on theoretical condensed matter physics, particularly quantum many-particle systems where interactions drive novel behavior, such as Bose-Einstein condensates, paired fermion superfluidity, graphene, heavy-fermion materials, and high-temperature superconductors.
Research Interests:
- Ultracold Atomic Gases: Studies of superfluidity and magnetism in cold atom systems, including trapped imbalanced Fermi gases and BCS-BEC crossover phenomena.
- Graphene: Investigation of electronic properties and quantum transport in graphene, emphasizing relativistic electron dynamics and strain effects.
- High-Temperature Superconductivity: Exploration of unconventional superconductivity in cuprates, pnictides, and cold atomic gas analogs, including FFLO states and quantum critical scaling.

Notable topics include the Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov state in imbalanced Fermi gases and the interplay of electron interactions in novel materials.
