Daniel Sellen is a Professor at the University of Toronto, cross-appointed to the Temerty Faculty of Medicine (Department of Nutritional Sciences) and the Dalla Lana School of Public Health (Social and Behavioral Health Sciences). He serves as Director of the Joannah and Brian Lawson Centre for Child Nutrition, a Senior Visiting Scholar at SickKids Centre for Global Child Health, and a Salzburg Global Institute Fellow. His roles emphasize interdisciplinary research bridging evolutionary anthropology, global health, and implementation science.

Professor Sellen’s research explores how evolutionary frameworks can inform modern public health strategies for infant and child feeding. He leads global health partnerships applying implementation science to community-level interventions, focusing on gender-transformative approaches, refugee nutrition, and mHealth in maternal-child care. His work spans low-income countries and vulnerable populations in Canada, addressing food systems, nutrition security, and health equity.
Recent publications analyze school food programs during the pandemic, human milk composition, and food insecurity among refugee and postpartum populations. His scientific awards include:
