Professor Daniel Selarz is a faculty member at Southwestern Law School, specializing in personal injury litigation with a focus on motor vehicle negligence and premises liability. He joined the institution in 2017. Professor Selarz holds a B.A. in Business Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara (2009) and a J.D. from Southwestern Law School (2012), where he earned Dean's List honors annually. During law school, he contributed to the Southwestern Law Review and competed in the Trial Advocacy Honors Program, reaching the American Association for Justice (AAJ) Student Trial Advocacy Competition finals.
Professionally, he began as a law clerk at Veatch Carlson during his final law school year and later became an associate in their Law and Motion Department (2012). Prior roles included judicial externships at the U.S. District Court, Central District of California (Hon. Otis D. Wright II) and the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Complex Litigation Department. He is admitted to practice in all California courts and the U.S. District Court, Central District of California.
As an educator, he teaches Civil Pretrial Practice and has delivered speaking engagements on topics such as career paths for legal professionals, transactional vs. litigation career distinctions, and alumni networking at Southwestern. His teaching philosophy emphasizes practical advocacy skills and professional development.
