Dr. Daniel Saldivia Gonzatti is a Research Fellow at the Center for Civil Society Research, a joint initiative between the WZB Berlin Social Science Center and the Institute of Sociology at Freie Universität Berlin. His research focuses on comparative politics, political sociology, and quantitative methods, with expertise in political trust, protest dynamics, and far-right political influence.
He holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Cologne (2022) and has held visiting positions at American University (2023) and Universidad Nacional de San Martín (2016). His work appears in top journals including the British Journal of Political Science, Political Communication, and Journal of European Public Policy.
Saldivia Gonzatti’s research explores how far-right agendas permeate mainstream politics, the relationship between political trust and protest behavior, and the methodologies for analyzing multi-level political systems. He contributes to public discourse through media outlets like The New York Times, WIRED, and ZEIT Online.
His current projects include WZB Protest Monitoring, analyzing protest trends and radicalization processes in Germany. He has developed influential datasets such as the Regional Elections Data-Set (RED) and pioneered semi-automated text analysis workflows for concept identification.
