Daniel Ryder is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Tufts University's School of Engineering. He holds a B.S. from the University of Massachusetts (1974) and a Ph.D. from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (1984). His research focuses on chemical processing of ceramics, process control, and artificial neural networks with applications in materials science and biomedical engineering. He has authored influential papers on bioreactor design, ferroelectric thin films, and tire material science.
Ryder has received the Cabot Foundation pre-Doctoral Research Fellowship (1981-1984) and led National Science Foundation-funded grants for REU Sites in data science for biological systems (2016-2019). He has taught over 50 courses since 1985, including core subjects like Process Dynamics & Control and Math Methods in Chemical Engineering, demonstrating sustained dedication to engineering education.
