Jason Ryder

Jason Ryder is an Adjunct Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and Executive Director of the Master of Bioprocess Engineering (MBPE) program at the University of California, Berkeley. He is also the Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Oobli, a biotechnology company focused on sweet proteins for the food and beverage industry, and has held senior technical leadership roles at Amyrs, Bolt Threads, and Eat JUST.

• Education: B.S. in Chemical Engineering, University of Alabama (1997); Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, University of California, Berkeley (2003).

Dr. Ryder specializes in biochemical engineering, with expertise spanning process and product development, engineering design, scale-up, and commercialization in industrial biotech and food tech sectors. His work targets applications in sustainable chemicals, fuels, materials, and foods, bridging academic innovation with industrial execution.
