Daniel Rodriguez-Navas is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at The New School, affiliated with the Department of Philosophy in the Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts. His work bridges ethics, meta-ethical theory, and the history of 19th-20th century European philosophy. He holds a PhD from the University of Chicago (2016), and advanced degrees from Paris I (DEA, 2005) and Paris IV (Maîtrise, 2004).
Research interests include Nietzsche’s genealogical approach to morality, Foucault’s ethics and subjectivity theories, narrative approaches to selfhood, and philosophy of film. Notable publications analyze Nietzsche’s Genealogy of Morality and Foucault’s intellectual trajectory. He has received the Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship (2016).
Teaching focuses on critical theory, subjectivity, and normativity. Upcoming courses include Foucault and Critique (Spring 2026) and Theories of Subjectivity (Fall 2025). His work critiques individualist conceptions of selfhood and explores film’s political dimensions.
