Daniel R. Schwarz is the Frederic J. Whiton Professor of English Literature and Stephen H. Weiss Presidential Fellow at Cornell University's College of Arts and Sciences, where he has taught since 1968. He holds dual affiliations with the Literatures in English department and Jewish Studies Program.
His research spans British High Modernism (1890-1950), Holocaust Studies, narrative theory, and the relationship between visual arts and literature. Key interests include James Joyce, Joseph Conrad, Wallace Stevens, and the evolution of the European novel. His work emphasizes humanistic criticism and pluralistic reading approaches.
