Daniel Podd is an Associate Professor in the Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program at the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, St. John’s University. He holds a BS from St. John’s University (2005) and an MPAS from the University of Nebraska (2009). A USAF NY-ANG Captain and certified Physician Assistant, he specializes in clinical medicine, addiction medicine, and geriatric care. His research focuses on metabolic disorders, wound management, and infectious disease management in aging populations. Awards include the 2014 Dr. John W. Dobbins Professor of the Year and DEA Buprenorphine Waiver Certification (2019).
Teaching includes core clinical courses such as Medical Diagnostics, Comprehensive Health History, and rotations in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and Geriatrics. He leads the Opioid Overdose Prevention Program at St. John’s and holds certifications in SBIRT and MAT Waiver. Professional contributions include peer-reviewed articles on hyperphosphatemia, platelet-rich plasma therapy, and vitamin D deficiencies.
His military service with the USAF NY-ANG underscores a commitment to public health, complementing his academic role as both educator and clinician.
