Daniel Picus, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at Western Washington University specializing in late antique Judaism and Christianity. His research focuses on ancient textual interpretation practices in the Hebrew Bible and New Testament.
- Education: PhD in Religious Studies from Brown University
His current project examines rabbinic Jewish reading practices, particularly how rabbis fragmented larger texts into smaller units. He chairs the Book History and Biblical Literatures program group in the Society of Biblical Literature and serves as Deputy Judaism Editor at the Ancient Jew Review.
