معرفی
Rabbi Elizabeth W. Goldstein is an Associate Professor of Religious Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences at Gonzaga University and serves as Jewish Chaplain in the Office of Mission and Ministry. Her work bridges Jewish and Christian communities, students and faculty, and Gonzaga with Spokane's broader Jewish community on this Jesuit Catholic campus.
Her academic credentials include ordination from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (2001) and a PhD in Hebrew Bible/Ancient History from the University of California, San Diego (2010).
Specializing in Hebrew Bible and Jewish Women's Studies, Goldstein teaches courses on Judaism and Gender, Contemporary Israel, Hebrew language, and Biblical Studies. Her research examines gender dynamics and ritual purity systems in ancient texts, with particular focus on women's roles in Jewish traditions. This interdisciplinary work connects religious studies, gender theory, and historical analysis across multiple Jewish denominational contexts.
She is active in professional Jewish communities, having chaired Ohalah's (Jewish Renewal Clergy) national conference Program Committee while maintaining dual membership in Ohalah and CCAR (Reform Rabbinic organization). Goldstein also teaches for the Aleph Ordination Program beyond her Gonzaga responsibilities.
