Daniel Paul

Daniel Paul is a Research Fellow at the Brunel Composites Centre (BCC) within the College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences at Brunel University London. He joined BCC in December 2023 and is actively involved in research projects, idea generation, and publication of papers in the field of composite materials and structures.

He holds a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, India, with a dissertation on the energy absorption characteristics of glass fibre-reinforced composites with syntactic foams.

Daniel's research interests include the modelling of novel composite structures and materials, experimental characterization of materials, and sustainable processes in composites. His expertise lies in computational and experimental analysis of composite materials for wind turbine blades, impact and crashworthiness, and repair techniques, with a focus on syntactic foams for lightweight structures.

His recent publications demonstrate a strong emphasis on wind turbine blade repair, residual stress analysis, and the development of sustainable composites. He has also conducted significant work on impact analysis of composite tubes filled with syntactic foams for energy absorption applications.

Daniel is involved in research projects such as "Repurposing waste heat in composite manufacturing processes" and "Development of smart and sustainable wind turbine blades". Additionally, he contributes to the EOLIAN project, developing multiscale models for bio-based vitrimer composites intended for recyclable and sustainable wind turbine blades.

He is an active member of the Brunel Composites Centre (BCC), a prominent research group specializing in composite materials and structures.
