Professor Daniel Panne is a faculty member in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of Leicester, specializing in structural biology of signal transduction and epigenetic gene regulation within the innate immune system.
His research investigates how signaling pathways control gene expression through chromatin structure modulation, focusing on enhanceosome assembly (transcription factors ATF-2/c-Jun, IRF-3/IRF-7, NF-kappaB, HMGI(Y)) and co-activators like CBP/p300. The lab employs X-ray crystallography, cryo-electron microscopy, crosslinking, and native mass spectrometry to study chromatin acetylation, nucleosome remodeling, and genome regulation mechanisms.
Professor Panne leads a research group including Kelsey Hipwell, Mahima Patel, Connor Robertson, Amrita Patel, Gajanan Patil, Naveen Nagarakanti, and Tajith Shaik. His work aims to translate structural insights into pharmacological targets for diseases involving chromatin dysregulation.
