Professor Daniel Orrells is Professor of Classics and Head of Cultures in King's College London's Faculty of Arts & Humanities. He directs the Global Cultures Institute and holds degrees from Cambridge.
Research examines receptions of classical literature from Renaissance to modernity, with focus on gender/sexuality studies, postcolonial theory, and aesthetics. His scholarship connects classical antiquity with modern intellectual and literary history.
Publications explore classical influences in decadent literature, Freudian theory, and postcolonial contexts. Recent books analyze visualizations of ancient Greece and Freud's engagement with antiquity.
