Daniel Lewis

Dr. Daniel Lewis holds dual roles as the Dibner Senior Curator for the History of Science and Technology at The Huntington Library and an Adjunct Professor at California Institute of Technology (Caltech), where he teaches upper-division courses on environmental history and humanities. He specializes in the intersection of science, technology, and environmental history, with a focus on topics such as bird conservation, extinction dynamics, and the historical development of scientific instruments.

His research has been supported by postdoctoral appointments at Oxford University, the Smithsonian Institution, and the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society. Lewis is the author of six books, including *Twelve Trees: The Deep Roots of Our Future* (Simon & Schuster, 2024) and *Star Struck: One Thousand Years of the Art and Science of Astronomy*.
