Dr Daniel Lee is a Reader in Modern History at Queen Mary University of London, specializing in Holocaust history, Jewish communities in France/North Africa, and Nazi Germany. He holds fellowships from the British Academy, Max Weber Programme, and Yad Vashem. Previously, he taught at the University of Sheffield and held postdoctoral roles at Oxford. His research explores Jewish youth under Vichy, the SS officer’s armchair discovery, and Tunisian Jewish memory. He leads projects like the British Academy-funded 'Traces of Jewish Memory in Tunisia.'
Education:

- M.St. and DPhil in History (St Hugh’s College, Oxford)
Research Interests: Jewish experiences in WWII, North African Jewish history, Holocaust dynamics, and transnational Jewish networks. Current projects include a history of Tunisian Jews during WWII and a study on Jewish sex workers in 19th–20th century Europe.
