Daniel L Rock

Daniel L Rock is a Professor in the Department of Pathobiology at the University of Illinois' College of Veterinary Medicine, with additional affiliations to the Center for Global Studies, ACDIS (Arms Control, Disarmament, and International Security), and the Infection Biology Working Group.

Research focuses on virology and viral pathogenesis with emphasis on animal viruses (orf virus, bovine papular stomatitis virus, African swine fever virus). Publications primarily explore viral mechanisms and vaccine strategies, with recent work characterizing keratinocyte-virus interactions (2024), developing veterinary vaccine vectors (2023), and analyzing swine fever virus immunology (2021). Research consistently addresses both molecular virology and practical disease control applications.

Currently teaches specialized courses including Principles of Virology and Viral Pathogenesis and Virology, mentoring students in infectious disease research.
