معرفی
Daniel Kennedy is a Professor and Chair of Pharmaceutical & Administrative Sciences at Western New England University (WNE). He also holds academic appointments at UMass Chan Medical School – Baystate and the University of Reading. His research spans two primary areas: (1) pharmacological studies on thiol isomerase inhibitors for cancer and thrombosis, and (2) scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) in pharmacy education.
- Education: PhD in Molecular Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (SUNY Buffalo), MS in Chemistry (Emory University), Postdoctoral Fellowship in Hemostasis and Thrombosis (Harvard Medical School).
Daniel Kennedy's laboratory research focuses on high-throughput screening of broad-spectrum thiol isomerase inhibitors to explore their roles in cancer, thrombosis, and cancer-induced thrombosis. His work has been externally funded since 2014, resulting in 35 manuscripts and seven patents (three licensed). Concurrently, he pioneers studies in pharmacy pedagogy, publishing over 15 manuscripts on curriculum design, faculty well-being, and shared governance.
Recent publications highlight his dual expertise:
- 2024: Thiol isomerase inhibition for anti-thrombotic activity (Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis & Vascular Biology)
- 2023: Zafirlukast in ovarian cancer treatment (FASEB Journal)
- 2023: Revisions to CAPE Educational Outcomes (American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education)
Scientific awards include:
- Distinguished Teaching Scholar (American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, 2025)
- Distinguished Service Award (AACP Biological Sciences Section)
At WNE, Kennedy leads a research lab studying thiol isomerase inhibitors while contributing to academic governance. He serves as an Editorial Board Member of the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education and has held leadership roles in multiple professional societies, including the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy and the International Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis.
