معرفی
Daniel Kasen is an Associate Professor jointly appointed in the Department of Astronomy and Department of Physics at the University of California, Berkeley, with affiliations to the Nuclear Science Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). His research focuses on theoretical and computational astrophysics, particularly high-energy transients like supernovae and neutron star mergers.
- Education:
- B.S. in Physics, Stanford University
- M.S. and Ph.D. in Physics, UC Berkeley
His work employs multi-dimensional supercomputer simulations to study astronomical explosions, including radiation transport mechanisms and their applications in cosmology and fundamental physics. He has held prestigious fellowships at Johns Hopkins and UC Santa Cruz prior to his Berkeley faculty role.
Scientific Awards
- Alan C. Davis Fellow, Johns Hopkins University
- Hubble Fellow, UC Santa Cruz
Kasen’s research spans energetic transients, computational modeling, and astrophysical radiation transport, contributing to understanding cosmic phenomena through simulations.
