Daniel J. Vimont

Professor Daniel J. Vimont is a leading climate scientist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, holding the Ned P. Smith Distinguished Chair of Climatology. He is affiliated with the Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences Department and co-chairs the Environmental Sciences degree program. His research focuses on understanding mechanisms of climate variability and change, interactions between weather and climate, and regional impacts of climate change. He employs observational analyses, climate models, and statistical techniques to study topics like ENSO, tropical Pacific/Atlantic variability, and statistical downscaling for regional climate.
