Dr. Daniel Hoare is an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow's School of Cardiovascular & Metabolic Health, specializing in advanced biosensor technologies for cardiovascular applications. His work focuses on integrating smart biosensors into medical devices such as stents and vascular grafts to enable real-time, noninvasive monitoring of conditions like thrombosis and restenosis. Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, he develops implantable systems combining bioimpedance analysis, wireless telemetry, and energy-harvesting solutions to address challenges in cardiovascular healthcare.
Research interests include:
- Implantable biosensors for thrombus detection and vascular health monitoring
- Wireless communication systems for biomedical devices
- Self-reporting vascular access grafts and stents
- Miniaturized sensor platforms using flexible electronics and microfabrication
Recent publications highlight advancements in:
- Whole-stent biosensors for blood clot detection
- Real-time thrombus monitoring in vivo
- Dual-band implantable antennas for biotelemetry
- Autonomous impedance-based diagnostics for cardiovascular implants
His research addresses critical technical challenges in biosensor integration, energy autonomy, and clinical translation of next-generation cardiovascular devices.
