Daniel Hirata is associated with GENI/UFF and collaborates with Fogo Cruzado-RJ and Disque-Denúncia on initiatives such as the Historical Map of Armed Groups in Rio de Janeiro and studies on police massacres. These projects combine empirical research with public engagement to inform policy and debate on security and human rights.
His research has resulted in recent publications including interactive maps and policy reports that analyze the spatial and institutional dimensions of violence in Rio de Janeiro, highlighting patterns of police operations in areas dominated by drug trafficking and the growing dominance of militias.
Daniel maintains a strong public presence through research communication and media contributions, aiming to bridge academic findings with societal impact.
