Professor Daniel Hemel is a full-time faculty member at New York University School of Law, where he joined as a Professor of Law in June 2022. His research spans taxation, intellectual property, administrative/constitutional law, and nonprofit organizations. He holds a JD from Yale Law School, an M.Phil from Oxford (as a Marshall Scholar), and a Harvard AB summa cum laude. Hemel has authored over 50 scholarly articles in top journals like Columbia Law Review and Yale Law Journal, with work cited by the U.S. Supreme Court and federal courts. He also publishes op-eds in major newspapers and advises lawmakers on tax policy. His current roles include co-editing the Journal of Legal Analysis and serving on boards of the National Tax Association and Environmental Law Institute.
