Daniel Harrison

Daniel Harrison is an Associate Professor at Southern Cross University’s Faculty of Science and Engineering. He holds a PhD in Biological Oceanography from the University of Sydney and has held roles including Senior Lecturer and Senior Research Fellow.

His research focuses on evaluating engineering interventions in marine systems to improve ecological, environmental, and societal outcomes. Key areas include biogeochemistry, coral reef restoration, ecoengineering, and geoengineering. He specializes in integrating empirical field measurements with computational modeling to address human impacts on marine ecosystems.

He leads the Cooling and Shading sub-program within the Reef Restoration and Adaptation Program and is affiliated with the National Marine Science Centre. He is a member of the Australian Coral Reef Society, Australian Marine Science Association, and American Geophysical Union.
