He is a core member of the Methods in Evidence Synthesis Unit, specializing in statistical methodology and research optimization. Additionally, he serves as a Research Project Supervisor for the University of Melbourne’s Master of Cancer Sciences program and on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Clinical Epidemiology. He also contributes to the ASPIRE Steering Committee at SAHMRI.
- Education: PhD (Science, University of Melbourne, 2024), Master of Medical Radiations (Monash University, 2013), Bachelor of Science (University of Melbourne, 2007)
His research focuses on advancing evidence synthesis methods, promoting transparent research practices, and investigating reproducibility in science. Key interests include open science initiatives like data sharing, meta-research, and ethical guidelines for IPD meta-analyses. His work addresses challenges in research reliability and integrity, particularly in oncology and clinical trials.
His recent publications explore cancer researchers’ attitudes toward data sharing, replicability frameworks (e.g., repliCATS), and the impact of analytical decisions on ecological research. He has also published on the pandemic’s effects on cancer care and policy implications for clinical trials.
- Awards: David Sackett Young Investigator Award, Peer Reviewer of the Year Award
Hamilton advises on research quality through his NHMRC committee role and collaborates internationally on studies involving radiation therapy protocols and rare tumor registries. His work aligns with UN SDGs related to quality education and good health.
