Daniel Freund is an Assistant Professor of Operations Management at the MIT Sloan School of Management. His research focuses on applying optimization, stochastic modeling, and revenue management techniques to transportation systems, online platforms, and humanitarian operations. He holds a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Warwick, and an MS and PhD in Applied Mathematics from Cornell University, advised by David B. Shmoys. Before MIT, he was a postdoc in Lyft's Marketplace Labs team.
Key academic contributions include work on fair incentives, refugee integration via resource allocation, and autonomous vehicle supply dynamics. He serves as an Associate Editor for Operations Research and participates in ACM program committees (e.g., EC, TheWebConf). His honors include the 2023 MSOM Best OM Paper Award and the 2021 Applied Probability Society Best Publication Award.
