معرفی
Dr. Daniel Figueiredo is an Assistant Professor at Utrecht University's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, affiliated with the Institute for Risk Assessment Sciences (IRAS) under the Population Health Sciences department. His work bridges exposure assessment, environmental epidemiology, and computational modeling to study pesticide impacts on human and ecosystem health.
His research focuses on assessing the pesticide exposome (lifetime exposure), deterministic modeling of exposure pathways, and planetary health linkages. He co-leads the SPRINT-H2020 project and contributes to VHP4Safety (NWO-funded), examining exposure dynamics in agricultural regions across the Netherlands, Czech Republic, and South Africa.
Recent publications highlight his use of silicone wristbands and doormat/floor dust samples to quantify pesticide exposure, with emphasis on non-target species, child health risks, and cross-regional comparisons. His methodological strengths in R, Python, ArcGIS, and Matlab support high-resolution spatiotemporal analyses.
He teaches the Environmental Health course and collaborates with institutions in Europe, South Africa, and Argentina. Key research themes include pathways to sustainability and one health approaches to pesticide risk management.
