Daniel F. Gros is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), holding appointments as Psychology Program Manager and Section Chief of Primary Care Mental Health Integration and CBT Clinic programs at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center. He leads the VA Advanced Fellowship in Mental Illness Research and Treatment (MIRECC). Dr. Gros earned his B.S. from Virginia Commonwealth University (2001), and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University at Buffalo (2008). His research focuses on transdiagnostic approaches to affective disorders, including Transdiagnostic Behavior Therapy (TBT), dissemination of evidence-based psychotherapies, and PTSD treatment in veterans. He has authored over 100 publications and secured significant VA funding for TBT studies.
Key grants include VA Merit Awards totaling $1.7M+ investigating TBT efficacy in veterans and a $764K grant for group TBT comparisons. He has co-investigated projects on telehealth interventions ($4.9M), glial regulators for comorbid PTSD/SUD ($1.5M), and behavioral medicine training ($421K). Awards include Best Research Preceptor (2016-2017) and Outstanding Supervision (2010-2011).
